Our Beliefs

Our beliefs shape how we follow Jesus, love people, and live out our faith.

The Bible

Deuteronomy 4:1-2; Psalm 119:11, 89, 105; Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 22:29; John 5:39, 16:13-15; 17:17; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-2 , 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25, 2 Peter 3:16

The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and/or contradiction.

Holy Spirit

Genesis 1:2; Psalm 51:11; Isaiah 61:1-3; Joel 2:28-32; Mark 1:10; John 15:26, 16:7-14; Acts 1:8, 2:1-4, 13:2; Romans 8:9-11, 14-16, 26-27; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 1:13-14; 2 Peter 1:2; Revelation 22:17

The Holy Spirit’s presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgement. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.

Resurrection

Luke 24:16, 36, 39; John 2:19-21, 20:26-28, 21:4; Acts 24:15; I Corinthians 15:42, 44; Philippians 1:21-23, 3:21)

Jesus Christ was physically resurrected from the dead in a glorified body three days after His death on the cross. In addition, both the saved and the lost will be resurrected; those who are saved to the resurrection of eternal life with the Lord in Heaven, and those who are lost to the resurrection of eternal separation in Hell.

The Church

Matthew 16:18-19, 18:15-20; Acts 2:41-47, 5:11-14, 13:1-3, 14:23, 16:5, 20:28; 1 Corinthens 7:17, 9:13-14; Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:19-22, 3:10-12, 5:22-32; Colossians 1:18, 3:15; 1 Timothy 4:14; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Revelation 21:2-3

The church is a community of believers unified through faith in Christ. It is committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands, and it seeks to bring the gospel to the world. The church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.

Marital Relationships

Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:26–27; Matthew 19:4–6; Genesis 1:27; Hebrews 13:4.

God created marriage to be a sacred covenant between one man and one woman. The Church believes this has been God’s design for marriage from the beginning and throughout history. God also calls us to live holy lives in every area, including how we honor Him with our bodies. Fleet believes that God’s Word teaches that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between one man and one woman. Therefore, the Church affirms that the biblical standard for those who are married is faithfulness within marriage, and for those who are unmarried, committed celibacy. Any sexual activity outside of marriage between one man and one woman is considered contrary to the Church’s biblical beliefs and teachings.

Given at Pentecost, it is the promise of the Father, sent by Jesus after His Ascension, to empower the Church to preach the Gospel throughout the whole earth.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

Joel 2:28-29; Matthew 3:11; Mark 16:17; Acts 1:5,2:1-4, 17, 38-39, 8:14-17, 10:38, 44-47, 11:15-17, 19:1-6)

Salvation

Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31; Hebrews 9:22

We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ: His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our works or of any human efforts. If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

There is one God, eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and co-eternal.

Trinity

1 John 5:7; Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 9:6; Hebrews 3:7-11)
